USA Cycling and IMBA award $3,500 in Trail Tune-up Grants
USA Cycling has announced the six recipients of the 2008 USA Cycling-International Mountain Bicycling Association (IMBA) Trail Tune-Up Grants. A total of $3,500 was awarded to groups displaying the highest need for trail improvement projects. Funded by USA Cycling, one $1,000 grant and five $500 grants were awarded to several groups seeking to jump-start trail improvement projects with an emphasis placed on trails used for racing. With applications from all corners of the United States, USA Cycling and IMBA have selected recipients from Alabama, California, Massachusetts, New York and Virginia.

Johnson, Compton Earn Cyclo-cross National Calendar Titles
USA Cycling has recognized Tim Johnson and Katie Compton as the overall winners of the 2007 USA Cycling Cyclo-cross National Racing Calendar. Following the conclusion of the 38-event calendar at the Urban Cyclo-Cross competition in Irvine, Calif. on January 19, Johnson earned 512 points on the menandrsquo;s side, while Compton garnered 310 to take the top spot for the women. Johnson took a commanding overall calendar victory, 131 points ahead of second-place Barry Wicks, while Compton unseated last yearandrsquo;s winner and this yearandrsquo;s third-place finisher Lynn Bessette who earned 200 points.

On the eve of the opening round of the 2008-09 UCI Track Cycling World Cup Classics in Manchester, USA Cycling announced today a revamped track program designed primarily to expand international track racing opportunities for emerging talent. With an emphasis on cultivating the next generation of U.S. track riders, the program will closely align itself with existing European-based development programs currently utilized by USA Cycling and provide increased exposure to world-class competition at various non-traditional events.
